Wander the Winter Wetland with Family and Friends

Rockford, IL – Natural Land Institute will host the 8th annual Wander at the
Wetland: Full Moon Snowshoe & Hike on Wednesday, January 31, 2018, 4:30 to
8:00 p.m. at Nygren Wetland Preserve, 3190 W. Rockton Rd., Rockton, Illinois.
This FREE family-friendly outdoor winter event is great for all ages to spend the
evening exploring the prairies and wetlands under the full moon. Guests can
venture out on their own or go with a volunteer guide as they hike, snowshoe or
ski with hundreds of luminaries guiding their way on the trail. If visitors go with a guide
they will hear about the history of the preserve and Natural Land Institute. Adding to
the fun will be listening for coyotes, owls, and other night sounds, or simply enjoying the
stillness and quiet on the prairie.
Two bonfires and the winter themed greenhouse with refreshments will warm
up body and soul.
Registration is requested for this free event.  Call 815-964-6666 or register
online at www.NaturalLand.org by Tuesday, January 30, 2018.  For a $10
donation to Natural Land Institute, guests may rent snowshoes at the event
that evening, sponsored by Rocktown Adventures, or they may bring their
own snowshoes or skis. Luminaries are sponsored by NorthPointe Health &
Wellness Campus.
