FREE COLLEGE GOLF INFORMATION SESSION AND CLINIC DECEMBER 27, 2017 — Rockford Park District will hold College Golf – Getting Ready, a free golf clinic and panel discussion for junior golfers and their parents, Wednesday, December 27, 2018 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the Indoor Sports Center at Mercyhealth Sportscore Two (conference room 2), 8800 E. Riverside Blvd., Loves Park, IL.
The event will provide information about playing golf in college, including: how to get a college scholarship, what students should be doing now to help them get a scholarship, and what college coaches are looking for. During the clinic portion, panel members will hit various shots, and talk about drills they do for their teams.
The session will feature Alexis Bennett, head golf coach at Division 1 University of South Carolina Beaufort; Lizzy Blomgren, head of The First Tee® of Metropolitan New York program; Carson Racich, current college golfer from Rockford Park District’s LPGA program; Jordan Zellman, Saint Leo University and LPGA Member, and. Ann Bloomfield, Ferris State University and LPGA Member. No advance registration is needed to attend.

PARK DISTRICT THERAPEUTIC RECREATION WINTER/SPRING PROGRAM GUIDE — Rockford Park District’s Therapeutic Recreation Winter/Spring 2018 Program Guide is available free of charge at www.rockfordparkdistrict.org/tr, and will be available soon at Park District facilities and Customer Service locations. The 36-page Guide contains program and activity descriptions and schedules for a variety of social, recreational, sport offerings, arts, and fitness activities and programs for children, teens, and adults with disabilities. Inclusion services are provided by well-trained and caring therapeutic recreation staff who assess and provide the appropriate level of support needed by each participant to have a successful experience.
New inclusion program offerings include Buddy Skate indoor ice skating lessons for ages 5-17, beginning ice skating lessons for ages 6-16, volleyball lessons for children in grades K-3, and Open Gym at UW Health Sports Factory for ages 18 and older.
Rockford Park District is a member of the Northlands Association for Special Recreation (NASR), a cooperative partnership with Belvidere and Freeport park districts, and information about upcoming NASR fall and early winter activities for ages eight through adult is also included in the Guide.
The Guide also contains details about the Park District’s automated installment payment plan option, and Help Me Play fee assistance program.

NEW WEEKDAY RECREATION TIMES AT UW HEALTH SPORTS FACTORY — Stay active with healthy exercise by walking laps, or playing basketball or pickleball in climate controlled comfort at Rockford Park District’s UW Health Sports Factory, 305 S. Following is the new schedule for three drop-in programs offered Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., excluding holidays and special events; no pre-registration is needed:
Daily Walk – $2 per session, includes a cup of coffee
Open Gym Basketball – $5 per session; basketballs provided; 11-punch discount card also available
Open Gym Pickleball – $5 per session; paddles provided, 11-punch discount card also available
