Roy Orbison might be the most influential musician of all time. He composed dozens of super-hits, developed a unique vocal style, and inspired many stars – most notably Patsy Cline and the Beatles.
The Trinadora Rocks (T’ Rocks, for short) band’s “Orbison’s Ring” celebrates Roy’s legacy, and it is one of the region’s most popular programs. Ron Holm (bass and rhythm guitars) croons Orbison’s vocals as well as tunes by Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, and Conway Twitty. Jannie Nelson (keyboard, concertina, woodwinds) provides the band’s Patsy Cline, Brenda Lee, Connie Francis, and Cyndi Lauper vocals. John Bishoff (lead guitar) handles Buddy Holly, Ricky Nelson, and Fats Domino vocals. Tim Austin (drums) delivers Otis Redding and Paul McCartney vocals. All four band members harmonize on Beatles, Wilburys, and even Beach Boys arrangements.
Remarkably, there are even more stars in the Orbison constellation, and the band pays honor to many of them. The result is a joyous celebration of pop, rock, blues, and rockabilly music that rekindles fond memories, engenders toe tapping and singing along, and draws even the most reticent listeners to the dance floor. The band will be showcasing their recently-released ‘Forever Roy’ album of 12 Orbison covers plus 4 Orbison-inspired originals. The album is barely a month old, and sales have been so brisk that T’ Rocks is already considering a second production run.
